The Last Word

June 25, 2017 – August 27, 2017

“Is the world just falling apart?”  Whether you hear it from someone else or express this sentiment yourself, we’re often faced with that question.  It sounds like it from hearing commentators and new reports.  It feels like that despite our best optimism.  Similarly, there’s a prevailing idea that life is about making the best of things, putting up with the rest, and hopefully you’ll have a good time in between.  But Christianity presents quite a different conclusion, one that is much more hopeful, much more purposeful, and much more satisfying.

We’re going to spend the summer working our way through the book of Revelation.  This is a book filled with all kinds of strange language, symbols, and imagery.  And there are all kinds of interpretations for it, as you may well know.   We want to approach this last book of the Bible in a way that we think reflects the general gist of the book.  The book of Revelation is about ultimate reality, past, present, and future.  It’s not just a forecast of the future.  It’s not just a bunch of symbols.  It’s about how the world really works.  It’s about the inside scoop.  It’s about the final word on life.
