The Art of Serving
May 9, 2021 – June 6, 2021Serving is hard. It takes up time you don’t have. It alters plans you do have. It’s hard because it can seem endless. It’s tough because it’s usually thankless. And the feeling that you’re being used can make you resent every request for help. So why would anyone shape their identity around being a servant? How would you go about forming a servant heart? What would be the motivation to bow before another? In Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis said the purpose of the church was “to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs…” By that he meant that the character and behavior of Christ was to be reflected in those who follow Christ – his humble, sacrificial service of love. This next series of messages explores the theme of servanthood and helps us to apply it to our life together as a church.
